On the weekend of Nov 1 my husband and I randomly came across a high school football game and it turned out to be rather important. Rival teams, Cambria Heights Highlanders and the Northern Cambria Colts, we playing their last game and this game was for all the marbles, or in their case a Coal Bucket. The teams have been rivals for years and they always played a "coal bowl" (they lived in a once booming coal area) and the winning teams school gained possession of a Coal Bucket. On November 1st the winner took all. I haven't shot a football game in a few years, so i was excited to see if I still had it ;) It was just as I remember, and I loved it. Can't follow football to save my life, but I make it work. Here are a few of my favorite shots of the night. (There is also a documentary being filmed about these schools)
South Park BMX
Growing up my brothers were always on their bikes; riding, doing tricks and just talking about BMX. They even built me my own tricked out white with pink rims bike, and let me ride around with them; I have pretty good memories here. I like to shoot many things but this one was a lot of fun, because it brought back memories of a more simple time in my life. Thanks boys!
Harsh Lighting
I recently did a few Christmas photos and I tried something new, but not so new. I, along with my strobes, and on camera flash, shot for hard light and shadows. I thought my images would resemble retro home studio portraits. I am happy with the turn out and I hope the families are too. The attached photo is just an example. Those who are know my work, know that I love B&W; in this case I feel it helps the work.
